Hello!
Let me introduce myself! I'm Jane, the creator/maker behind the business, a fabric hoarder, a sewing machine wrangler and a lover of chocolate, Welsh rugby and a classic G&T!
Based in a lovely rural village near Newport, South Wales (but originally from Pembrokeshire), I'm lucky to have a home studio so my commute to work is an impressive ten seconds!
My creative journey began when I took redundancy from the steel industry in 2002 and retrained in my first love of soft furnishings. I started my first soft furnishings business whilst living in Cheshire but in 2006, my husband's job relocated us to The Netherlands where we had two wonderful years bringing up three young kids in a fabulous outdoor environment.
Fast forward to 2008 and we were back in the UK. However, I decided to be a full-time Mum until I set up Jared Designs in 2013. Initially, I set up my business locally as a curtain designer but also started selling my cushions and crafts globally via my Etsy shop.
In 2017, I made the decision to specialise in smaller items and embroidered art. Wanting to add more personalised gifts to my portfolio, I invested in an embroidery machine - it's a bit of a beast but I'm taming it!
Jared Designs allows me to indulge in my passion for interior design, soft furnishings and crafting. The favourite part of my work is developing bespoke orders for my lovely customers, whether it's sourcing specific fabric for an unusual make, designing an heirloom to be treasured or creating a gift for a special occasion.
